Biologics discovery and development workflows are complex, highly iterative and requires many handoffs between different scientific teams within a company or across collaborating organizations.

Dotmatics provides a comprehensive solution that maps on to all stages of a discovery workflow, such as the antibody discovery workflow shown (also see the Dotmatics Antibody Discovery solution).  The workflows leverage applications in the Dotmatics portfolio including a biologics-enabled electronic lab notebook (BioELN), biological registration, inventory management, assay data management, work request system, search, and visual data analytics. All Dotmatics capabilities are fully integrated allowing them to adapt seamlessly to a scientist's workflows. For example, from the BioELN interface, a new entity in the biological registration system can be created with a single click. Scientists and managers can use the work-request system to create and monitor cross-team workflows. Dashboards allow all team members to monitor the status of project and their workflows.


Lab Informatics for Molecular Biologists

Integrated workflows, created with biologics-specific ELN templates, allow molecular biologists to capture their experiments in the BioELN and send the data directly to Bioregister. Bioregister is the system of record that captures the full breadth of scientific datatypes that are being investigated as candidate therapeutics or used as part of the discovery process. These include DNA, RNA, proteins, antibodies, antibody-drug conjugates, plasmids, chemically-modified peptides and nucleotides, cell lines, as well as new, user-defined entities. Bioregister captures not only the entities and their attributes but also relationships between those entities. It also enables users to record sample, clone, vector, purification and expression information and to manage the protein production process. Once samples are available, scientists use Cascade to request assay services on them. Entities stored in Bioregister can be accessed directly in the BioELN, simplifying workflows.


Lab Informatics for Sample Managers

Integrated workflows in Inventory allow sample managers to receive biologic (and other) samples into a hierarchy of storage locations, manage sample lifecycles, and distribute aliquots and plates for testing. RESTful web services within the Dotmatics platform means many capabilities of Inventory can be accessed directly from the BioELN, so the end-user scientist does not need to change user interface, streamlining their workflows.


Lab Informatics for Assay Scientists

Integrated workflows allow assay scientists to capture and analyze data from primary, secondary and DMPK assays in Studies. Advanced visual and statistical analysis of assays is also available in Vortex.

They can publish validated assay results directly to the scientific teams.

They can use Cascade to request samples and plates from inventory management.

Studies uses the same underlying framework as the BioELN, reducing the user-interface learning curve for end-user scientists.


Decision Support for the Scientific Team

All team members can use Browser to search across all research data including experiments, sequences and other biologic entities, samples and assays as soon as BioELN experiments are published and results become available.

Vortex provides bioinformatics analysis in an easy to use graphical interface that allows a wide range of scientists to undertake analyses without having to write scripts. Available methods including sequence alignment and clustering, a range of methods to assess relationships between sequence and activity and to build predictive models of those, as well as statistical analysis and high-performance visualization of project data. These capabilities allow the team to make timely, well-informed decisions about project progressions.

Designed for Collaboration

Dotmatics software is designed for collaboration between scientific teams within an organization or, when cloud hosted, across a collaborative research network of pharmas, biotechs, CROs and academic labs. Experiments in the BioELN and published scientific data can be shared in real time, event feeds and dashboards show up-to-date project status and collaboration and communication tools facilitate interaction between distributed teams.
