Dotmatics Digital 2020 Chemicals & Materials - Speakers and Panelists

Dr. Joachim Dickhaut

Senior Principal Scientist Agricultural Research

Joachim Dickhaut is currently responsible for the Dotmatics implementation project at BASF and is dedicated to providing chemists with access to all data they need to make informed decisions in addition to working seamlessly with expert informatics teams tasked with data management, machine-learning and application development for R&D. Joachim has over 20 years’ experience in agricultural science research including roles at Bayer Crop Science, Aventis and Agrevo. He was awarded a Doctorate in Chemistry by the University of Basel.

The web presentation will give an overview of the AgroSciences efforts being carried out at BASF and how Dotmatics’ software supports key scientific workflows. We will discuss how our digitalization journey started out with the need for aggregating data from multiple scientific data sources for analysis purposes. Later, we added data visualization and ELN capabilities to implement an end-to-end platform solution.

Chad Dow

Principal Application Scientist

Chad Dow is a Principal Application Scientist at Dotmatics and is a member of the Product Marketing team supporting the development of Dotmatics Platform software solutions to facilitate the complete data lifecycle for Chemical and Material Science applications. In his role at Dotmatics, Chad is involved with both software demonstrations and system implementation, configuration, and support activities. Chad has over 12 years of experience as an application scientist and holds a Master's degree in Data Analytics.

Max Petersen

AVP of Chemicals & Materials Marketing

Max Petersen is the Associate VP of Chemicals & Materials Marketing at Dotmatics. In this role, Max is responsible for developing Dotmatics’ strategy for the chemicals & materials industries.

Max has over 20 years of experience in informatics and simulation technologies in chemicals, materials and life sciences applications. He held business consulting and various technology leadership positions and also managed a lab automation company. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Fritz-Haber-Institute of the Max-Planck-Society and a masters in Physics from Technische Universität Berlin.

R&D IT infrastructures that supports chemicals and materials research need to fulfill significantly different requirements than those typically found in life sciences organizations. The main reason for this is that developing performance chemicals/materials generally involves

  • combining diverse scientific approaches
  • developing novel processing methods and
  • employing a much broader set of analytical techniques.

In this webinar we discuss how Dotmatics data-centric R&D IT platform provides a unique solution to this challenge, with focus on:

  • Dealing with workflow complexity – combining data of multiple disciplines in one place
  • Implementing data intelligence – allowing scientist to make the most of their data
  • Reducing IT infrastructure complexity – simplifying integration and deployment efforts

The webinar will also include a demonstration of the Dotmatics platform applied to typical formulations research workflows.
