Dotmatics was founded in 2005 by scientists Stephen Gallagher and Alastair Hill. Since then it has built a strong and profitable business with an expert team of over 200 scientists, software developers and engineers, and project managers.

Steve obtained a first degree in biochemistry and a doctorate in biophysics and molecular modelling. After completing his post-doc at Los Alamos National Laboratory, New Mexico, Steve joined Merck in 2000. While at Merck, Steve was responsible for delivering global applications in data-mining, information management, decision-support tools and text-mining. Steve left Merck in 2005 to found Dotmatics Limited.
Alastair joined Merck in 1998 as a medicinal chemist, after obtaining his first degree in chemistry. Following a sabbatical in 2002, to take a Masters in chemoinformatics, he returned to Merck where he was responsible for developing chemical software applications, managing chemical databases and performing small-molecule modelling studies. Alastair left Merck in 2005 to found Dotmatics Limited.
I have 25 years’ experience as a CTO across diverse industries and sectors, delivering enabling technologies and platforms. I founded EIBS, a company developing web and mobile content solutions for the public and third sectors including the NHS. Following EIBS’ acquisition in 2014 by Ideagen plc, my role transitioned to Ideagen Group CTO, responsible for product vision, technology and alliances, growing the technology team from 30 to 140 over a 3-year tenure. Prior to my new position at Dotmantcs, I was CTO at Commify, one of Europe’s largest mobile business messaging companies, for 3 years supporting 45,000 companies communicate with their customers and staff.
I have been with Dotmatics since late 2017, and head up the finance, legal, HR and talent acquisition functions. We have a small and focussed team who work to support our business areas around the globe. We are able to do so as we have a great group of people, with Amanda Briggs and Paul Zarifa looking after our finance function along with Catherine Tadgell heading up HR. We are responsible for not just the controls and processes that give the business a stable platform from which to operate, but also for developing the tools and analytics that are vital to helping our business grow and thrive.
I joined Dotmatics as the VP of Data following the acquisition of BioBright, the company I founded out of MIT and Harvard Medical School. I lead the BioBright team based in Boston where we are integrating the DarwinSync platform with Dotmatics offerings, developing novel data analytics techniques for large and complex biomedical datasets, and state-of-the art data security and privacy features. I am responsible for BioBright’s relationships in the biosecurity field including private companies, public-private partnerships, and government entities. My executive team is comprised of Brian Gilman, Chief Commercial Officer of BioBright, Edward Chung, Chief Medical Officer, and Hisham Barradah, VP of Engineering. Our executive team has strong scientific and software engineering expertise from the biological field (PerkinElmer, Broad Institute, Wingu, MIT, Harvard Medical School), the medical field (Duke, Intersystems, Tenet Healthcare) and software engineering (LogMeIn, Navinet). This expertise is what drives the design of platform and solutions, to ensure that software augments scientists and healthcare professionals.
I have headed up the EU Sales team here at for Dotmatics for 3 years and have worked in this industry for over 20 years. I am responsible for managing our account managers through Europe, Middle East and India with all commercial elements but most importantly in supporting our customers in meeting their business objectives now and for the future. We currently have 8 account managers in the EU team including John Gatenby, Alessandro Spada & Peter Rhodes who build on decades of experience to help guide our customers on the digitalisation journey. Our team work closely with the pre-sales applications scientists, implementation team and support group to ensure that we understand our customers challenges from the initial sales process and maintain our customers satisfaction for long term partnership.
I have worked at Dotmatics since April of 2015 and I run operations in North America. I am responsible for ensuring that customers are provided with the highest quality sales experience and see the value that Dotmatics products and services can provide. I work very closely with Phil Mounteney who heads the North America application scientist team to provide demonstrations on how our software can meet your needs. I am surrounded by very experienced sales professionals such as John Kressman who runs the western region, Vince Paton who runs strategic accounts on the east coast and Kevin Ruff who manages the non-life sciences accounts throughout North America.
I have been working for Dotmatics for over 5 years and am now responsible for sales in Korea, China and most other Asian countries as a global sales team member. The Korean life science field has been growing successfully during last 5 years, in which Dotmatics has been a major player. I have also been working to extend our business into the Korean chemicals and materials field, looking at exciting new opportunities to help grow our customer base. In order to do that, I am working closely with a great Korean sales team including Jenny Seo who is an SDR. We are currently expanding our operations into China and Taiwan, which has meant us building up a local team of experts for both of these markets as well.
I became the country manager of Dotmatics Japan in 2015 and established direct business for the Japanese market, were I also look after our South Pacific territories. Zsolt Lepp joined us as our first senior application scientist soon after opening the Japanese branch office in Tokyo. We contracted our first major Japanese customer in 2016. Since then, our Japanese customers base has grown rapidly, including a single customer with over 1000 users. Now, our application science team consist of five experts; Nobuo Miura, Wataru Hiroshima, Hiro Takahashi and Suqin Li, in addition to Zsolt. Kanako Otani has recently joined our team as our marketing executive. In 2019, we moved to a brand new office in Akihabara (Tokyo) and have since incorporated into Dotmatics K.K. Sophie Westlake; Business development, Daniel Baker and Jared Milbank; Application Scientist are actively working at South Pacific. We are excited to assist our customers and prospects by realizing their vision of a single platform solution.
I joined Dotmatics in February 2020 to head up the HR and Facilities team. The team support Dotmatics employees globally in eleven locations, with majority of the team based in the head office in Bishop’s Stortford, UK including Linda Eynon and Kate Watson and Kelly Morgan based in our San Diego office covering the US.
The HR team are here to support Dotmatics employees throughout their employee lifecycle, building and developing talent, supporting employee wellbeing, strategic planning, health and safety and helping the business to achieve its goals and values.

I have worked for Dotmatics for nearly 5 years and in my current role for two. I head up a global team of marketeer’s responsible for all Marketing Communications, Lead Gen and Operations. Even though we are a small team in numbers we have a wealth of experience to draw upon, we are fortunate to have an in house design team lead by James West. We are responsible for all external communication which Elka Mansfield manages alongside our external PR Agency. We work closely with the Sales team on Lead Gen to support the Sales pipeline through various Marketing campaigns including Product launches, Strategic programs, Events and Social Media.
I joined Dotmatics in 2015 and have over 20 years of experience in the scientific informatics industry. I head up the Product Marketing and Product Management teams and together we are responsible for understanding our customer needs and industry trends and then making sure that those translate into the products that Dotmatics builds. In Product Marketing Andrew LeBeau brings extensive expertise in Biologics discovery and development and Max Petersen who has many years of experience in the Chemical and Materials Industries. On the product management side, Adrian Stevens is a hugely experienced scientist and product manager and has built an entire product management organization from scratch.
I joined Dotmatics in 2009 as one of the first 10 employees in the company and have been in my current role of Global Head of Application Science for the past 8 years. I head up the global team of dedicated scientists who support, deliver, project manage and showcase the Dotmatics product suite to our new customers and clients. The Application Science department is the keystone that sits between the Sales department, Product Management and the Software Development and prototyping groups, working closely with Kaj David, Tom Oldfield and Dan Ormsby taking customer ideas and turning them into reality within the products. Over the years I have personally worked with a huge number of our customers and love seeing the impact that the tools we provide them has on their work, making them more efficient capturing, analysing and querying their research data.
I have had the pleasure of working for Dotmatics for 12 years and have spent the last 8 years in the USA leading the pre ( Jess Sager) & post (Chrisandra Bright) sales teams of application scientists, support specialists (Theresa Smith) and project managers (Ania Plona) for both North America and APAC. I have an incredible team of scientists with huge breadth and depth of knowledge across Chemistry/Chemicals and Materials (Wendy Harrison) and Biologics (Steve Manning), Biology and Screening , informatics and beyond. My team is the interface between the Dotmatics developers and our customers and drives value for our users by understanding their unique needs and finding software solutions to make their research more efficient. We work closely with our sales, marketing, product management and development departments to bring customer trends, needs and cutting-edge research into the Dotmatics platform. Finally, and most importantly, my team views our customers as partners; we strive to assist throughout the life cycle of being a Dotmatics customer in a helpful and collaborative manor that provides real value and long-term success.
I joined Dotmatics back in December 2018 and lead the European Application Science team. Dotmatics pride themselves on first understanding the WHY. We achieve this through our wonderful team of Application Scientists – domain experts who have coupled their extensive experience of working in the industries we serve with technical knowledge of the Dotmatics suite. This powerful combination makes the team ideally suited to best understanding the needs of our customers and designing and implementing the most appropriate solutions for them. Within our team we have four disciplines: PreSales, Service Delivery, Project Management and Support / Customer Success. Jeremy Major oversees Service Delivery ensuring that solutions are implemented in accordance with best practices. Richard Jones manages our PMO ensuring that projects are delivered on time, to specification, within budget, and with high quality. Jon Steadman heads up Support and Customer Success who are responsible for providing incident, problem, and service request management on both a reactive and proactive basis. All teams contribute directly to product roadmaps by sponsoring enhancements based on Customer feedback ensuring products are both fit for purpose as well as fit for use.
